How to Wear Your Splint
How to Wear Your Ring Splint
Wearing your ring splint correctly is key to getting the most benefit and staying comfortable throughout the day. Follow these guidelines to get started.
Putting On Your Splint
- Make sure your finger is clean and dry before putting on your splint.
- Slide the splint onto the affected finger joint. It should fit snugly but not cut off circulation.
- Position the splint so it sits directly over the joint that needs support.
- Check that you can still bend the joint to the degree intended by your splint design.
Getting the Right Fit
- Your splint should feel secure without causing numbness, tingling, or discoloration.
- Fingers can swell throughout the day. Adjust your splint throughout the day or as needed
- If the fit doesn't feel right, refer to our Ring Sizing Guide or contact us for help.
How Long to Wear It
- Most people wear their splints during waking hours and remove them at night.
- Always follow the guidance of your occupational therapist or healthcare provider.
- Our splints are designed to be worn 24/7. You can not over wear your splints, this is a common misconception.
When to Remove Your Splint
- Remove your splint before swimming, bathing, or using lotions and hand sanitizers.
- Take it off if you notice any skin irritation, redness, or discomfort.
